The Alchemist

I expected a simple story, but this book gave me so much more to think about. Santiago’s journey made me reflect on how often we ignore our dreams because staying comfortable feels easier. I especially loved the message about having the courage to pursue what matters even when you don’t know exactly where the path will lead. It’s an easy read, but the ideas behind it are surprisingly deep. I finished it quickly and immediately understood why so many people recommend it. Definitely one of those books that stays in your mind after the last page.

I picked this up during a time when I felt completely unsure about what I wanted to do next in life. Somehow, Santiago’s story felt incredibly relevant to what I was going through. It reminded me that uncertainty doesn’t necessarily mean you’re on the wrong path. Sometimes you have to take the first step before everything becomes clear. The story is simple, meaningful, and incredibly easy to get into. I walked away feeling much more optimistic about my own journey.

At first I wondered why this book was so famous because the story seemed quite straightforward. By the time I finished, I understood. There are so many little lessons about fear, opportunity, purpose, and pursuing your dreams hidden throughout Santiago’s adventure. It never feels like a typical self-help book telling you what to do. Instead, the story lets you discover the lessons for yourself. Short, enjoyable, and genuinely thought-provoking.

This book made me realize how many things I’ve wanted to do but kept postponing because I was waiting for the “right time.” Watching Santiago choose uncertainty over comfort really made me reflect on my own choices. I loved that the book doesn’t need hundreds of pages to communicate something meaningful. There were several moments where I stopped reading just to think about what I had read. It’s inspiring without feeling overly complicated. I can see myself rereading this at different stages of my life.
